Stem Cell Therapies

PlanetHospital, pioneers of medical tourism since 2002, have carefully selected a few international specialists that have excellent skills in providing stem cell treatment in South Korea.

Stem cell therapy

Stem cell therapy is one of the most mysterious (and therefore exploited) areas of medicine today. In addition to offering exceptional therapy for debilitating diseases, it has advanced medicine in several ways.  Given the controversies surrounding stem cell therapy in countries such as the US, advanced stem cell research has developed in countries such as Singapore, South Korea, China, and India.

However, the off-shoring of stem cell therapy has led to exploitative behaviour by dubious operators as well. How does one separate fact from fiction, legitimate data from dubious claims especially in an industry that is unregulated and fraught with exaggeration?  The answer is research and due diligence.

PlanetHospital has been visiting stem cell researchers and studying their clinical data, and has spoken to patients who have benefited from different types of stem cell therapies. They have provided a list of several providers that have shown effective treatments. While this list is not a guarantee of legitimacy, PlanetHospital has reviewed the following data from each and every stem cell provider:

  • Background of the doctors and researchers involved in the stem cell therapy

  • Research protocols

  • Patient success rates

  • Peer reviews

PlanetHospital invites you to review the various stem cell therapies they have researched thus far.  They will provide you with as much data as they can find and connect you with the stem cell therapy providers you are interested in so that you can make an informed choice.

Why go to South Korea for stem cell treatment?

The Korean culture is very health focused (they boast one of the lowest heart disease rates, lowest obesity rates, and one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world). Korean hospitals are state of the art and as modern as some of the best hospitalls in the US or the EU. Perhaps the most interesting thing going on in Korea though is the advancement being made in the area of Stem Cell research.

Where else can I go to get stem cell therapy?

PlanetHospital also offer stem cell treatment in Singapore, India, Mexico and the Philippines.

What is stem cell therapy?

Stem cells, also known as progenitor cells are unprogrammed cells found in most plants and animals that have the ability to self renew and that can be differentiated to form different cell types. In other words, think of a stem cell as a piece of clay that can be shifted into not just different shapes but different materials such bone or blood, or tissue. A stem cell has two properties:

  • It must be able to divide without changing its characteristics, and

  • It needs to have 'potency' or the ability to shift into a specialised cell type through natural or humanly induced methods

The different potencies (potential) of a stem cell include:

  • Totipotent: stem cells that can be manipulated into all the mature (completed) cells of a human body such as lungs, heart, etc as well as the components of an embryo

  • Pluripotent: stem cells that can be manipulated into all the mature cell types of the body but not its embryonic components

  • Multipotent: stem cells that can be manipulated into various specialised cells that create either the endoderm, mesoderm or ectoderm parts of a human foetus

  • Unipotent: stem cells that can be manipulated into a single mature cell type of the body such as skin cells, blood cells, muscle or bone

Successful applications of stem cell therapy

These include:

  • The introduction of blood stem cells to repair cardiovascular conditions such as damage from stroke, peripheral arterial disease and myocardial infarctions, and certain cancers

  • The introduction of bone marrow (which contains high doses of stem cells) to battle and potentially cure myelomas and leukemia, help slow down the progression of type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinsons, and other cancers

  • Introduction of stem cells from various media for the treatment of ALS, liver and pancreatic cancers and dysfunctions

Research continues all around the world for various stem cell based therapies. PlanetHospital is proud to provide you with the most comprehensive resource on the web of genuine stem cell therapies being conducted around the world. While results cannot be guarantee, PlanetHospital can safely say that they have researched these facilities thoroughly.
